A family business. 45 years deep. Still evolving.

MetCat started as a family-run scrapyard in Wolverhampton over four decades ago. Today we're a specialist metal recycler and catalytic converter processor with live pricing powered by Metal IQ, one of the few metallic catalyst processing lines in Europe, and clients across the UK and beyond.

Where it all began

MetCat was founded in 1980 as a family-run metal recycling business. Over four decades, we've grown from a local scrapyard into a specialist operation — handling non-ferrous metals, tungsten, and catalytic converters for yards, traders, and manufacturers across the UK and Europe.

Built on trust

But growth hasn't changed who we are. We're still family-run. We still know our clients by name. And we still believe that honest pricing and long-term relationships matter more than quick deals.

The name says it all

The name "MetCat" — metals and catalytic converters — says it all. That's what we do. That's what we've always done. We just do it better now.

HOW WE THINK

45 years of expertise. Now in your pocket.

We've never been afraid to invest in how we work. When we saw that the industry was stuck — outdated price lists, phone calls, slow transactions — we didn't wait — we adopted a better way of working: Metal IQ.

Metal IQ is an independent technology platform built specifically for the metal recycling industry, combining live market data, catalytic converter intelligence and non-ferrous scrap pricing in one place. We use it every day on our own trading desk, and the same live pricing is available to recyclers across the UK.

That's the MetCat approach: use the best tools in the market so our clients get fast, accurate pricing wherever they are.

STANDARDS

Certified. Compliant. Auditable.

We operate in full compliance with UK recycling and waste management regulations. For our corporate clients, this means a partner you can present to procurement with confidence — fully certified, fully auditable, and fully accountable.
